HP Private Investigators Charged in Pretexting Case

SAN JOSE, CA -- A federal court has charged two private investigators for allegedly using fake identities to surreptitiously get the personal and phone records of journalists, employees, and board members of Hewlett-Packard. The two investigators, Matthew DePante and Joseph DePante, have been charged with conspiracy to commit Social Security fraud. HP hired the two men, who at the time owned Action Research Group.
