Jail Time for Data Crimes?

ENGLAND -- MPs with The Commons Justice Section Committee have stated that private investigators, media organizations, and others who violate the Data Protection Act should be jailed. MPs note that these crimes can be very profitable and should be punished by strong sentences in order to deter potential data abuse. Currently, even serious violations often only net a small £100 fine. MPs also feel that the government lacks the resources to investigate data crimes adequately.
