The success of any company begins with the commitment of its owner, and there are none more committed to his craft than Matt Henderson.
The founder and owner of HP Investigations, LLC, Mr. Henderson is a Certified Private Investigator. His insightful business acumen comes from thirty-four successful years owning his own printing company before becoming licensed as a Private Investigator, Personal Protection Specialist and as an Armed Private Security provider.
Nationally Recognized Company
Under Mr. Henderson’s guidance, HP Investigations was rated among the top eleven Private Investigation companies in the state of Virginia for 2021 by Expertise.com, an online service that rates companies by reputation and professionalism in more than two hundred industries nationwide. Mr. Henderson has led or collaborated on dozens of successful investigations. His services include Locating Missing Persons, Elder Neglect and Abuse, Infidelity Surveillance, Workman’s Compensation fraud investigations, Employee Theft, Seizure of Counterfeit Goods, Background Checks and more.
As a Licensed private Investigator and Certified Personal Protection Specialist, Mr. Henderson provides a variety of investigative and protective services including close personal protection for individuals, entertainers, celebrities, corporate executives, events, and politicians running for office. His client list in 2021 included Virginia Senator Amanda Chase. He also provided protection for television news crews during the 2020 presidential election.
PPS gives Mr. Henderson an advantage over the licensing restrictions of security guards. He also has the option to work in plain clothes and is not contractually bound to a single piece of real estate. The mobility of PPS allows Mr. Henderson to travel off premises with clients and escort them wherever they need to go in Virginia.
Through reciprocity agreements, Mr. Henderson has engaged in interstate surveillance operations involving suspected insurance fraud and other illegal activities. Reciprocity agreements allow certified Virginia private investigators to operate in other states. These agreements currently are with the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
Always looking to improve his skills, Mr. Henderson is a graduate of Combined Firearms Training (CFT), which was taught by a US special forces veteran and featured a more demanding curriculum than the course required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), the state’s regulatory agency for police and private security. During his career, Mr. Henderson has developed an impeccable skill set that includes advanced interviewing techniques, armed close protection, field surveillance techniques, open-source intelligence techniques, and de-escalation training.
Just as with the written word, a private investigator must be able to read body language and facial expressions to be effective in determining when a subject is being honest in his or her responses to outside stimulus, such as an interview. These responses, called micro facial expressions, occur within a fraction of a second, so the interviewer must be trained at being alert and observant. Realizing the importance of such a skill, Mr. Henderson attended a course in Micro Expressions Training hosted by the nationally known Paul Ekman Group, LLC (PEG). Paul Ekman is an American psychologist and a professor emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ekman is a pioneer in human emotions and their relation to facial expressions. Mr. Henderson’s training with PEG qualifies him as an expert in micro expressions.
Mr. Henderson believes that in an industry where trust is paramount, the most important qualities a private investigator can possess are to be ethical, truthful, and accurate. And always have the documentation to support your findings.
All investigations performed with discretion.
