PI Thanks Infidelity for Business Prosperity |
ANCHORAGE, AK - A recent profile of Alaska PI Sherman "Tank" Jones has the 20-year veteran of investigations saying that infidelity easily is his biggest business. Jones received a criminal justice degree from the University of Alaska and works on criminal and civil investigations for defense attorney Rex Butler and other clients. After hours, he expands his business to help average citizens – most of whom hire him to run cheating spouse investigations. |

Belfair Investigators Caught in Pretexting Controversy Were Unlicensed |
BELFAIR, WA - Emilio and Brandy Torrella of Belfair’s BNT Investigations have been charged by the federal government for pretexting, and now may be facing licensing woes. This week, Washington’s Department of Licensing has received complaints that the Torrellas were operating a PI company without a Washington state-mandated investigators' license. If the allegations are true, the Torrellas could be guilty of a gross misdemeanor. Legitimate PIs are upset that the Torrellas are being called PIs, since they don't have licenses, and give legitimate investigators a bad name. |

Three Ex-Troopers Now Work as PIs |
BUTLER, PA - Ex-troopers Jerry Markle, Paul Epps and Ray Melder now operate The Advanced Investigations Group. Melder has a behavior profiling background, Markle has experience running financial investigations, and Epps was an intelligence officer who can now run computer investigations, e-discovery cases and conduct undercover work. In turn, the three men are thrilled to have found an exciting post-retirement career after leaving the state police. |

Personal Data Left in the Open at Superior Court |
VENTURA COUNTY, CA - Outside of Ventura County Superior Court in November some personal data was found, including the bank account numbers and Social Security numbers of four people. PI Larry Troxel told the media that someone easily could have stolen the four people’s identities from the information contained in the papers. The papers were records from the court's traffic division and were found in a trash bin. |

Edmonton PI Cleared of Extortion Charges |
CANADA - Ross Barros, an Edmonton PI and former drug officer, has been found not guilty of extortion. Queen's Bench Justice Joanne Veit ruled that they did not prove that Barros attempted to have charges withdrawn against an alleged drug dealer. The allegations stated that Barros hoped to have the charges dropped in exchange for not revealing the identity of the informant. |
