PI Says Privacy is Old-Fashioned

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn PI Steven Rambam has been in the field for a quarter of a century and in a recent interview he revealed that privacy is a thing of the past. His company PallTech, keeps extensive databases on U.S. citizens. While the databases are very secure and only accessible by law enforcement, PIs and others who have a genuine need to see the information, the databases have shown Rambam how the face of privacy has changed in recent years. He notes that most people are now volunteering information that two decades ago a PI would have had to uncover. At the same time, more advances in computer software have allowed for more thorough and accurate searches.

Fashion PIs Take Aim At Jean Counterfeiting

LOS ANGELES, CA - LA-based Chris Johnson spends his days as a fashion PI, locating and buying counterfeit jeans so that jean manufacturers can sue. Los Angeles is full of counterfeit wares, which retail for a third or less of real designer labels. While the quality on many counterfeit jeans is inferior – poor stitching is often a give-away – some are very close copies. Johnson works with companies such as True Religion Brand Jeans, Antik Denim and Joe's Jeans. Statistics show that fashion PIs are needed in LA – close to $2 billion in counterfeit goods are sold each year in Los Angeles County alone. As designer denims have become more popular, so have counterfeit jeans, many made in China.

Madeleine McCann PIs In Fee Controversy

LONDON, ENGLAND - The PIs investigating Madeleine McCann’s disappearance have become embroiled in fresh controversy after it was revealed that they claimed expenses almost amounting to £50,000 for one month. The United States PI firm Oakley International was hired on a £500,000, six-month contract early in 2008. The company was to review global CCTV footage, conduct investigations and man a hotline related to the case. Brian Kennedy, who has been financially helping the McCann family with their search, became concerned when the PI firm claimed £43,500 ($74,155) in expenses in the first month of their contract. The company was terminated from the investigation in August 2008, when Kennedy became concerned about the lack of progress made on the case.
