Private Investigators in US Now Very Likely to Be Women

WASHINGTON, D.C. - While PIs typically are depicted as tough guys, a recent survey reported that 15 percent of all PIs in the United States are women. PI Joan Beach praised male PIs for being entrepreneurs in the field, but is quick to point out that women also have all of the skills necessary to make it in the business. Other investigators interviewed for the piece pointed out that women have some unique talents that are especially valuable in the PI field.

Investigators Have History of Fairness

RALEIGH, NC - Risk Management Associates has a history of integrity, but that history is being called into question regarding the company’s investigation of former Greensboro Police Chief David Wray. The city hired Raleigh-based RMA to investigate Wray two years ago. During their investigation of Wray, RMA found that a special-intelligence earmarked for gathering information about hate groups and gangs was instead being used to investigate Wray’s troubling neighbors and other officers.

PI's Death Deemed Not a Murder

GALENA, KS - In 2003 PI Jim Potts was found dead beside a road. When his body was discovered, Pott’s death was ruled a suicide. Pott’s widow and an attorney, who had hired Potts to investigate the Galena police department, disputed the suicide charge. Now, the Kansas attorney general's office has ruled out murder as a possible cause of death.

Surveillance Video Gives Clues in Gotbaum Case

NEW YORK CITY, NY - A new surveillance tape shows Carol Ann Gotbaum screaming in the airport and being approached by officers. The video seems to show that the officers have some concern about not injuring the woman. When she fell to the ground, officers followed her down to ensure that she wasn't injured. Gotbaum’s family hired a PI, who has suggested that some of the details of the incident merit closer investigation.
