FORT WORTH, TX - A program created and financed by the United Way of Tarrant County helps Child Protective Services caseworkers by hiring PIs who can help locate at-risk children. DMV Worried New Law Makes Job Harder for PIs

CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia DMV is decrying a new rule made during the last regular legislative session. The rule requires the state of West Virginia to notify drivers when it discloses personal information attached to vehicle titles or driver's licenses. The DMV claims that this could alert criminals to the fact that PIs or police are running investigations. DMV officials in the state have filed an emergency rule with the Secretary of State’s office to repeal the provision.

From Police Chief To Private Investigator

BANGOR, MN - Former Lincoln police chief Hank Dusenbery, now retired from the force, did not want to spend his golden years golfing, so he became a PI. The work allows him to stay busy while also using his extensive expertise to help others. Dusenbery got his license from state police on September 1 and promptly launched Dusenbery Security Consulting & Investigations (DSCI). It appears that he is the first PI in the region.

Nigeria Senate Cites Security Concerns

NIGERIA - The Nigeria Senate has proposed a law that would give private citizens the power to investigate crimes. The law comes in the wake of the murder of Mr. Oladimeji Olusegun Moses, a representative in the House of Representatives and growing concerns about security. In light of the murder of the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu has suggested a bill allowing private investigations. It is hoped that a private investigation sector would help police, who are overwhelmed by the weaponry and boldness of the country’s criminals.

National Association of Security Companies Considers Changes

ALEXANDRIA, VA - This past week, the National Association of Security Companies (NASCO) hosted an awards ceremony. The ceremony also was a time for Mechele Ray from the State of Nevada Private Investigations Licensing Board to speak about regulation, licensing and reciprocity in Nevada. Ray pointed out that while NASCO always has been in favor of regulation, too many rules decided by the state can push smaller businesses out of work.
