PI Arrested and Jailed for Impersonation |
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - Brett Sutcliffe, a Sydney PI, has been sentenced to one year in jail after impersonating an Australian Federal Police agent. The case stems from the moment Sutcliffe was confronted by a 77-year-old woman, who objected to the PI parking in a disabled parking zone outside her home. Sutcliffe then allegedly sent the woman a letter warning her that she had interfered in an official investigation involving national security. The letter went on to warn the woman that she could be arrested for obstruction of justice, harboring of criminals and other offenses. The woman eventually recognized Sutcliffe on a local television show and realized that he was not a federal agent as his letter claimed. Sutcliffe's licenses have been canceled by the NSW Police Commissioner, and the PI no longer works for Spousebusters. |
