PIs Track Down Missing Florida Girl |
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - Sixteen-year-old Jordan Mentore had been missing for weeks when some quick thinking by local PIs helped to find her and another teenage runaway. The two girls were hiding in a furnished home intended for foreclosure. Boys found with the girls have been charged with harboring a runaway. Mentore and the teens she was hiding with were sighted by PIs Steven Confino and Richard Ippolito while driving in a car. The PIs had been conducting surveillance on a property where the runaways were thought to be hiding. Confino and Ippolito focused on the foreclosed property after interviewing teens who had seen the runaway. The duo donated their time. |

PIs Crack Down on Deadbeat Australian Parents |
QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA - Australia's government, eager to crack down on almost $200 million in unpaid child support, has allowed deadbeat parents to be placed under secret surveillance. While some privacy groups decry the move, PIs are now investigating at least eight child support non-payment cases in Queensland. The Child Support Agency announced that PIs, covert surveillance, automatic salary deductions and other tough measures would be used to track down parents who do not pay. |

PI Nominated for Literary Prize |
LONDON, ENGLAND - One of the nominees for this year's Man Booker Prize for Fiction is a former PI. Steve Toltz has worked as a PI, as well as a teacher and screenwriter before penning his first novel, A Fraction of the Whole, which was nominated for the prize. The Sydney-born writer is among 13 authors chosen from 112 entries. The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is considered one of the world's most prestigious awards for writers. The shortlist will be announced on September 9 and the winner will be announced in October. |

From Coast to Coast, County PI Tracks Down Targets |
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Eileen Law is a successful private investigator, with more than 25 years of experience. Law was profiled recently on AllAroundPhilly.com. Originally, Law, 55, wanted to become a veterinarian. But she discovered her true passion after becoming the secretary for the Chester County district attorney shortly after she graduated from West Chester Henderson. "I took to law like a fish takes to water," she said. Law, who lives in East Marlborough, graduated from the police academy and worked for a private investigations firm for a few years before branching out and opening her own. |
