State Launches Criminal Background Check Web Site for Employers

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A new online system has been introduced to help employers perform a quick and secure criminal background check on workers. At the site, employers can view all felony and misdemeanor arrests and court conviction records. It also allows employers information about their current or prospective employees, according to a news release. However, employers have to meet certain qualifications before being approved to use the site. PIs’ Best Friend is the Web?

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - A recent article by Dave Parrack claims that web applications such as Google, Twitter, Flickr, MySpace, and others have made work much easier for PIs. While all online activity leaves information such as IP addresses, web 2.0 applications and web sites often encourage people to reveal more information, such as names, addresses, birth dates and photos. This information can be a real boon to PIs.

In response, Palin has announced changes at the Department of Public Safety. Some are claiming that PIs are needed to investigate the claims of a commissioner, who alleges he was fired because he refused to fire a trooper involved with Palin's sister. Palin denies the need for a PI as staunchly as she denies the allegations. She claims that Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was let go because Palin wanted the department to go in a new direction.
