Police and Journalists May be Investigated for Spying |
LONDON, ENGLAND – There may be an investigation as to how journalists were able to gain access to criminal records and other private information. The scandal is linked to the News of the World journalist scandal, in which several reporters have been accused of using PIs and illegal spying practices to access private information. |

PIs Uncover Problems with Firefighter Sick Leave Claims |
HAVERHILL, MASSACHUSETTS – PIs hired by a local mayor found that firefighters were engaged in physical activities on days they reported being sick. Last year, local firefighters called in sick three times as often as local police officers, spurring questions about possible overuse of sick time. The mayor paid $13,000 for a private investigation into the matter. |

PIs to Find Parents Who Don’t Pay |
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA – The Australian Federal Government is considering hiring PIs to conduct surveillance on deadbeat parents to encourage parents to pay child support. Reportedly, the trial found evidence of some parents working with employers to avoid child support payments. The results may encourage the government to make the surveillance program a more permanent policy. |

PI Investigates Murder |
CARTHAGE, MISSOURI – The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department had been investigating the deaths of Robert and Ellen Sheldon when the couple’s family decided to hire PIs to assist in the investigation. After the PIs were hired, two men, Darren J. Winans and Matthew D. Laurin, were arrested and charged in the murders. |
