County Deputy Assessor Used Public Time, Equipment to Work on PI Business |
CHARLESTON, WV – The West Virginia Ethics Commission is reprimanding Rick Raspa, a Monongalia County Deputy Assessor. Raspa allegedly used public time, office equipment and public computers for his own private security and PI company. The company “Raspa and Associates" offers PI and security services. Raspa has been ordered to pay $5,200 to the Monongalia County Assessor's Valuation Fund. |

Is it a Bad Idea for Parents to Hire PIs to Investigate Their Own Children? |
HUNTER, AUSTRALIA – Australian parents are conducting increasing surveillance on their children. Some hire PIs while others use computer software or at-home drug kits to check whether children are involved in dangerous activities. However, Geoff Munro, director of the Australian Drug Foundation has spoken out against the surveillance practices. He notes that hiring PIs or doing one’s own sleuthing destroys trust. |

Acquisition Helps Security Company Expand PI Services |
NEW YORK, NY – Altegrity, a leading private security service company, has acquired Kroll, a risk consulting company. The move poises Altegrity to expand its PI offerings and services, especially to legal and corporate clients. The deal was reportedly worth $1.13 billion. Kroll has stated its intentions of focusing on the insurance market. |

Italy Considers Tough New Wire-Tapping Bill |
MILAN, ITALY – Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been embroiled in a number of scandals and is reportedly being investigated for corruption, as are members of his cabinet. Now, Berlusconi is promoting a bill which would limit wire-tapping for journalists and PIs. Some critics allege that the bill support is because last year a callgirl released secret tapes of her conversations with Berlusconi. |
