Unusual Shooting Incident Involving PI Leaves Questions |
UTICA, NY - Most PIs know that being shot at can be a risk. Few PIs, however, worry about being shot because they are mistaken for a turkey. Yet, that is allegedly what happened to PI Matthew Brady. Brady was doing surveillance work and observing William Wehnke in relation to a workers' compensation claim when Wehnke shot him. There are questions about why Brady was on Wehnke's rented property. PIs are not allowed to trespass on private property in New York in the course of their investigations. |

PI and LaJolla Police May Have Worked Together |
LA JOLLA, CA - PIs Lori Brown and Rick Bronold were hired by John F. Steel IV's wife for surveillance. The PIs followed Steel and contacted police Sgt. Michael McCollough, a neighbor of Bronold. Records show that McCollough and the two PIs kept in phone contact during one evening which ended with the arrest of Steel on DUI charges. The next day, when Steel's wife divorced him, the DUI charges appeared in her filing, even though her attorney would be unlikely to have that information. Now, the actions of McCollough and the PIs are under scrutiny because Steel has filed a civil suit alleging false arrest and other claims. |

PIs Allegedly Trespassed in Dorm |
BOSTON, MA - The MIT Crime Club allegedly hired two PIs to look into the murder of student Justin Cosby inside a Harvard dorm. The PIs, Joseph Cadillic and Elissa Cadillic, were hired by the Simmons Agency, but when they began their investigation in the dorm they were arrested and charged with breaking and entering, and trespassing. |

PIs May Be Busy in New Jersey Mayor's Race |
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - A ballot scandal is affecting the Mayoral race in Atlantic City. In the hours before the primary election, hundreds of absentee ballots arrived, spurring allegations of corruption. Absentee ballots are designed for people who are too ill or disabled to get out to vote. The mayor has hired PIs who confirmed that in many cases people who had apparently applied for absentee ballots were healthy. |

PI Dreams Played a Role in the Life of New Supreme Court Nominee |
WASHINGTON D.C. – Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotamayor had ambitions to be a PI when she was a child. She has stated in interviews that she developed an interest in the law by reading Nancy Drew books. She decided that she wanted to be a PI, just like the fictional character. However, when Sotamayor was diagnosed with diabetes at age eight she was told that because of her illness she could not be in law enforcement and could not be a PI. Sotamayor continued to excel in school and eventually fulfilled her ambitions of being involved in the law. |
