Separated: Siblings Reunite After 30 Years

HANOVER, PA - Christmas, Thanksgiving and other family holidays will never be the same again for Ralph Glessner. Nor for Mary Fedorenko. They now have each other - and plenty of other new family members. Glessner, 46, and Fedorenko, 31, are brother and sister. Glessner saw his baby sister once when she was 4 months old, but she was adopted shortly after that, and they've been looking for each other for most of their lives. A private investigator helped reunite the two siblings.

New Bill in New Zealand Gives PIs More Powers

WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND – Suggested changes to New Zealand’s police laws could give PIs the power to arrest and prosecute criminals. The proposed Policing Bill was designed by politicians who feel that the police are simply too understaffed to deal with fraud. By working with PIs who have extended powers, legislators say, police could capture more white-collar criminals. Critics claim the bill would give private citizens too much power without adequate training. The bill would allow Commissioner Howard Broad to appoint specific people who would have the power of sworn officers.

Redflex Update

LAFAYETTE, LA – PInow.com staff have been following the story of Redflex vans in Lafayette and Baker. The company has traffic surveillance vans in use and recently a ruling was passed by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners that the van operators need PI licenses in Louisiana because the vans do surveillance work. This week, attorneys for Redflex have filed legal challenges to the ruling, including a motion for judicial review asking for the ruling to be rescinded. Redflex argues that the vans do not do PI work and do not offer services to the public and therefore should not have to get a PI license. Redflex also has filed a lawsuit against the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners, claiming that the closed session which saw a ruling against Redflex was in violation of Louisiana’s open meetings law.

Kevin Federline's Attorney Confuses the Roles of PIs, Gossips?

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan claimed that the media coverage of his client’s ex-wife Britney Spears saved him the cost of hiring a private detective. Kaplan has stated that he can just buy a People magazine rather than paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a PI. We can’t help but wonder – does he realize the difference between quality PI work and gossip?
