The Cost of Hiring a PI

YORK, PA - An interesting article in the York Daily Record this past week discussed the costs associated with hiring a PI. PInow.com advertiser Randy Tuer and PI Magazine's editor-in-chief Jimmie Mesis were quoted in the article. According to the article, most PIs work for an hourly rate that ranges from $50 to $200, and also charge for reimbursement of expenses that come directly from a case. Surveillance cases average $85 to $120 an hour, while many infidelity cases average about $500 to $1,500 per case. Criminal defense, civil investigations and wrongful death cases are more complicated and may take 25 to 50 hours or more. Complex cases involving finding biological parents or children who were put up for adoption can quickly add up to $5,000 to $10,000, or more.
