Mafia Fugitive Caught with Facebook |
CALABRIA, ITALY - Thanks to his Facebook contacts, suspected Italian mafioso Pasquale Manfredi was apprehended. To ascertain Manfredi's whereabouts, Italian police contacted his network of connections from the social networking page. Reports indicate that Manfredi, one of the country's top 100 most-wanted suspects, was arrested trying to escape from the rooftop of an apartment complex in the city of Crotone. |

Attorneys Note Clients Should Stay Away from Social Networking |
SANTA CRUZ, CA – Many attorneys are warning clients involved in personal injury lawsuits and other litigation to avoid social networking online while their case is pending. A recent American Life Project study shows that about 75% of people who use the Internet send links using social media and email, and that percentage includes judges, attorneys, PIs and insurance providers looking for information about claimants. |

Councilor Hoped to Hire PIs to Crack Down on Tax Cheats |
HAVERHILL, MA – Haverhill City Councilor Robert Scatamacchia hopes to stop residents from crossing the state border to avoid excise taxes when registering their cars. Currently, a number of people go into New Hampshire to register their cars, which is illegal, in order to avoid the tax. Scatamacchia wanted to hire PIs to track down tax cheats, but authorities – including the police chief – vetoed the idea. |

Two PIs in Da Vinci Reward Case |
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – Two PIs who helped recover the stolen Da Vinci painting "The Madonna of the Yarnwinder" hired attorney Marshall Ronald to help them collect the reward for the safe return of the painting. Ronald is now on trial, accused of trying to extort additional money for the case. Ronald allegedly tried to negotiate $2 million for himself in legal fees and hoped to keep the extra cash hidden from his PI clients. He was uncovered in his alleged scheme by an undercover officer. |
