PIs Weigh in on Technological Innovations

GRAND FORKS, ND - Throughout the past two decades, computers have replaced much of the paperwork that PIs used to deal with. However, most PIs interviewed for a recent Grand Forks Herald article (including PInow.com advertiser Russell Hons) note that in-person conversations - which can include everything from interviewing witnesses to confronting felons - remain the cornerstone of PI work. While computers allow easy access to information, and equipment such as infrared cameras, night-vision goggles and minuscule video cameras make surveillance work easier, PI work is not something that can be automated or replaced with computers.

TACOMA, WA - Videos and photos have been released in the case of the disappearance of Teekah Lewis. PIs hope that the media will help crack the nine-year-old cold case. The young girl was last seen in a bowling alley in Tacoma where she was bowling with her family. She was noticed missing around 10:15 p.m. Jan. 23, 1999. The girl's family has hired PIs and has worked with local authorities, but has never been able to find information about her disappearance. The family believes that Teekah was kidnapped.

Alberta Video Piracy Case Cracked by PIs

CALGARY - Richard Craig Lissaman recently was charged with illegally videotaping a movie in an Alberta movie theater, making him only the second person in Canada to be charged under new regulations in the Criminal Code. NHL Player Alleges He was Followed by PIs

TORONTO - Steve Moore, a former NHL player for the Colorado Avalanche, claims that PIs staked out his parents' Toronto home numerous times in 2007. Moore contacted the local police department to complain, and believes that the surveillance is occurring because Moore is suing the Vancouver Canucks for $38 million over a career-ending injury inflicted by Todd Bertuzzi. The PIs, when confronted by police, told authorities that they were working on other cases in the area.
