One Good Reason to Hire a PI for Surveillance

OMAHA, NE - Investigators are always telling the public to hire PIs for surveillance work because it is easy to run afoul of surveillance laws. One Nebraska woman, Dianna Divingnzzo, has learned the hard way that the PIs are the right way to go. Divingnzzo and her father are being sued by Divingnzzo's ex-husband, who is accusing the duo of hiding a recording device inside a teddy bear belonging to the couple's daughter. Divingnzzo allegedly used the recording device to gather evidence against her ex-husband to use in a custody case. Divingnzzo was awarded sole custody, but now is being accused of violating state and federal wiretapping laws.

ORANGE COUNTY, FL - The tragic case of Caylee Anthony, who went missing months ago and whose remains were recently found, continues to get stranger and stranger. The city of Denver, which has hired PIs to track suspicious employees before, paid $8,500 for the investigative work. Insurance Companies Keep Close Tabs on Claimants

FAIRFAX, VA - A recent workers' compensation case in Virginia involved a woman who had reflex sympathetic dystrophy, which affected her left and right arms. The woman claimed she could not complete specific tasks – notably grocery shopping – without assistance, but PIs hired by an insurance firm were able to show the woman performing these tasks on her own. Interestingly, her attorneys were still able to get her compensation based on alternative evidence of her disability, but the case highlighted the role PIs play in insurance claims.
