PInow.com Advertiser Interviewed on “Deadbeat Parents”

PHOENIX, AZ - According to some PIs in Arizona, the number of parents who don't pay child support as they are required to do is on the rise. Many PIs, including Bill Mosely, report that they are getting more calls from parents who are concerned about non-payment of child support. According to Mosely, the average non-paying parent owes between $35,000 and $50,000 in child support. Cayer and other PIs also point out that as the economy languishes, employers need to be on the alert as employee dishonesty can climb during an economic downturn. PIs like Cayer suggest careful background checks, internal controls, required employee vacations, a formal theft policy and theft-prevention devices for concerned employers.

The company has been booming in recent years, a fact that Stern attributes to a growing demand for fraud investigations. As the economy has slowed down, he has observed fraud cases increasing markedly. Industry experts back up Stern's informal observations, noting that some forms of fraud – especially insurance fraud – become far more frequent during a recession.
