NEW YORK, NY - The Center for Digital Democracy, the World Privacy Forum, and U.S. PIRG (Public Interest Research Groups) – want the FTC to investigate ad networks. The privacy groups allege that these networks profile Americans and capture too much private data about Internet users from both online and offline sources. According to the privacy groups, several well known companies, including Google and Yahoo, may be conducting what they argue is surveillance work on unsuspecting consumers in order to sell targeted, real-time ads.

WILMINGTON, NC – The office of North Carolina’s State Secretary Elaine Marshall has been reassuring residents of that state that North Carolina has tough policies in place to crack down on piracy and bootlegging. The comments came after criticism that the state allows illegal and pirated clothes, DVDs and other items to be sold openly. Marshall noted that the state currently has only two investigators dedicated to investigating and stopping piracy.
