PIs Report Valentine Effect Ongoing

PITTSBURGH, PA – High-profile cases of spousal infidelity in the news, notably the Tiger Woods case, have combined with the usual increase in PI business brought out by Valentine’s Day, many PIs are reporting. Some PI firms, such as Empire Investigations in Pittsburgh, are reporting a 15% jump in business. PI firms are using newer surveillance technology on infidelity cases, which decreases the chances of getting caught by a client’s spouse.

PIs Support Alabama Bill

DECATUR, AL – At this time of year, many consumers consider hiring a PI for the first time, as Valentine’s Day revives suspicions about unfaithful partners. Customers in Alabama may soon be hiring PIs in a new way, as the Alabama senate is contemplating new legislation (Senate Bill 24) which would make it tougher to get licensed as a PI. The new law would also regulate the state’s PI industry more. PIs, for example, would be subject to fingerprinting, ID cards, and background checks before becoming licensed. Criminals would not be allowed to become PIs. The law is welcomed by many PIs. Those PIs note that today almost anyone can become a PI, placing the burden on the consumer to investigate and research any PI services they hire carefully.

Judge Deems Surveillance “Legitimate” in Divorce Cases

ORANGE COUNTY, NY – A man was accused by his wife of stalking her after he hired a PI to conduct surveillance work and uncovered that the wife was having an affair. Family Court Judge Debra J. Kiedaisch, however, sided with the man and deemed that surveillance and PI work can be a legitimate part of a divorce case. In this case, the judge ruled hiring a PI is for a “proper and legitimate purpose.”

PIs Gearing Up for Seasonal Rush

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Many PIs across California and across the nation are getting ready for a seasonal spike in surveillance and cheating spouse cases. According to many PIs and experts, the time leading up to Valentine’s Day is a busy time for most PIs as suspicious spouses look for answers. This year, some experts claim the high-profile cheating scandal involving Tiger Woods may mean even more business for PIs. PI Tom Martin of Martin Investigative Services notes that he gets up to 15 new clients a week, but in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s day, he might get 25 calls a day. PIs like Martin may need to take on additional employees and surveillance equipment to accommodate increased demand at this time of year.

GPS Now Available for Lingerie, Not Just Cars!

BRASILIA, BRAZIL – A Brazilian company named Lindelucy has created GPS lingerie, which keeps track of the location of the lingerie wearer at all times. Although the item may prove popular with suspicious spouses and partners, it might be more effective to hire a PI or attorney rather than rely on underwear to keep track of a straying spouse.

New Hampshire Debates Adultery Laws

CONCORD, NH – Adultery cases may soon change in New Hampshire, as legislators consider changing existing laws regarding infidelity. New Hampshire has a 200-year-old state law which defines adultery as criminal offense and although no one has been charged with the crime in a long time, it is still technically a law. The law was last revised in 1992, when the penalty for adultery in New Hampshire was reduced to a $1,200 fine. Some legal experts consider the law unconstitutional, suggesting that it should be stricken from the books. Currently, over twenty states have similar laws, which define adultery as a criminal act.

Cheating is Unlikely to Succeed in Today’s World

Infidelity Expert Notes that Tiger Woods Showed Classic Signs of a Cheating Spouse

NEW YORK, NY – Infidelity expert Ruth Houston has noted that Tiger Woods, who has been accused of cheating on his wife, showed some of the classic signs of a cheating spouse. The golfer allegedly did not use condoms or other forms of protection with his mistresses, took his mistresses home while his wife was away, complained about unhappiness in his marriage and had multiple partners. Woods also allegedly used friends and bodyguards to facilitate cheating. These are common behaviors of many men who engage in extra-marital affairs, according to Houston.

PI Finds Bad Economy Good For Business

Desperate Housewives Increase Infidelity Among Women

DUBLIN, IRELAND – A new survey has found that women may be cheating in greater numbers than men. Opera North in the UK conducted a poll in September and found that infidelity initiated by women has grown in increasing amounts. Three out of ten men polled admitted to cheating while four of ten women surveyed admitted to being unfaithful. Experts note that the increase may be because women now have more opportunities to cheat, as more women have hobbies, interests and careers that take them out of the home and into scenarios where they can meet other men. Experts also note that the reasons why women cheat can be complex. In many cases, women appear to be searching for an emotional connection or appreciation which they feel they are not getting from their spouses.
