An outside firm will be hired to conduct a separate investigation into the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge, the busiest bridge in the state.
Gov. Tim Pawlenty said that although he has faith in the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, he wanted a parallel investigation. A forensic engineering firm, Wiss, Janney and Elstner, will lead the investigation.

A cable television network this weekend will feature the work of a Duluth police officer whose investigation helped determine who was driving a vehicle that crashed and killed a 28-year-old woman.
Duluth traffic investigator Tom Stolee will portray himself, with actors playing other roles in an episode titled “Mystery Driver” on the Discovery Health Channel’s (cable Ch. 110 in Duluth) “Accident Investigator” series.

Partly, this stems from the fact that many car accident – up to 90%, according to some statistics – are caused by driver negligence and so are not really “accidents” at all.
