Delphi Chamber of Commerce lost a valuable item after last year’s Carroll County Old Settler’s celebration. Members need to find the item because it provides one of the most needed services to vendors and exhibitors at the event.

The missing item is the electric wire used to supply power from the downtown junction boxes to the rides and booths. One local private investigator, a Carroll County native, has offered to find the missing item free of charge.

Private investigator Dale Seward said the black, high gauge, extremely heavy electric wire was last seen rolled on a wooden spindle in front of Bill’s Rock Shop, located on the square across from the courthouse. Seward said the wire is typically retrieved by the City of Delphi after the event and stored for the next Old Settlers.

“That didn’t happen for some reason last year,” Seward said.

He reported that the rolled wire was last seen in front of Bill’s Rock Shop near electrical boxes, which he indicated may also be missing. However, there are differing reports about how much time expired before it was taken away. And no one seems to know who actually took it from the front of the store.

“Someone may have seen it being loaded,” Seward said. “We need that person or persons to come forward and tell us what they saw.”

Seward said someone could have removed the wire and stored it and chamber members do not know who that person is.

“Even if someone thinks what they saw was inconsequential, it might be a piece to this puzzle,” he said. “You never know what might have happened until you hear from people who saw things. I just want to hear from anyone who was there.”
