A warrant was issued on Monday for the arrest of Cape Town private investigator Riaan Radyn after he failed to turn up to testify in Najwa Petersen’s bail application.
Radyn was subpoenaed by Wynberg regional magistrate Robert Henney to appear as a witness in the hearing - Petersen’s second attempt for bail.
The court heard last week that Radyn sold what was claimed to be a tape recording of police interviews with two of Petersen’s co-accused to a friend of her family.
Henney told the court on Monday he had issued the subpoena after it became apparent that neither the state nor the defence wanted to call Radyn.
He said though Radyn was supposed to be in court on Monday morning - he had instead phoned the control prosecutor to say he was in Ceres with a broken fan belt.
“I’m not impressed by that explanation,” Henney said, and issued the arrest warrant.
Petersen and three co-accused are charged with the murder of her husband, Taliep in the family home in December 2006.
