Britney Spears’ former manager is in hiding. Maybe he’s trying to lead by example.
While the onetime pop princess spent her weekend manning would-be traffic citations and house calls from animal services, Spears’ former career Svengali, Larry Rudolph, was doing his best not to further damage his old client’s personal or professional standing—by remaining in hiding from Kevin Federline’s subpoena-happy prosecution.
Rudolph told E! News anchor Ryan Seacrest via BlackBerry over the weekend that he has spent the past few weeks essentially on the run from Federline’s process server in order to avoid testifying in the ex-couple’s ongoing child-custody case.
According to Seacrest, who relayed Rudolph’s in-hiding status on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday morning, Rudolph wishes to remain loyal to Spears despite an on-again, off-again professional relationship with the singer with whom he has twice parted ways. Per Seacrest, Rudolph claimed if he were made to testify under oath, it “won’t be good for Britney.”

JOLIET — The three black cabinets sitting near the center of the white room comprise one of the state’s greatest crime-fighting tools.
Although a few technicians are working at terminals nearby, it’s quiet. The fans controlling the climate of the room provide the only sound accompanying the blinking lights from 20 hard drives stacked on the cabinets.
Visitors debate whether the silent machine is more reminiscent of I, Robot, WarGames or 2001, but they agree it’s obvious the system is up to something.
It’s the state’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System, and it’s searching its database of 45 million fingerprints.

The powers that be in New York and Los Angeles have finally given me the “okay” to let you all in on our secret: The Girls of Busted Confidential Investigations have a pilot episode of BUSTED! almost ready to hit network television ~ maybe even next week! We are going to be on NBC as a reality show and if y’all like it, we might just be a series! I know most of you have watched “reality” TV before, but let’s just have a little chat about what it’s like to shoot a pilot on a major network! First, the only thing that isn’t REAL (aside from hair color, a few capped teeth and some “after factory mark-up” body parts)* is that they shoot us walking in and out of the door at Busted more than once.

“The Private Detective Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2007” was introduced in the Rajya Sabha today, which provides for regulation of private detective agencies through the grant of licences by the appropriate authorities. The Private Detective Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2007 is on similar lines as The Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005, which is already in force.

Alberta’s arms-length energy regulator hired a private investigator to pose as a concerned citizen and infiltrate a group of landowners opposing the construction of a massive power line, new documents show.
The provincial NDP released documents obtained under Freedom of Information legislation Thursday that also show investigators gave the Energy and Utilities Board passwords that would allow it to listen in on the landowners’ private conference calls.

UK private eyes are setting up an online forum designed to dispel myths about the profession.
The esoterically monikered “e-LEGAL | Gathering” forum is open to lawyers and the general public, as well as gumshoes.
The site is the brainchild of Croydon based private-eye Jorge Salgado-Reyes of Salgado Investigations in association with Neil Sheppard of Trident Investigations. Technical support comes from Sam Deeks of ‘mu:kaumedia, creator of “The Salgado Files” podcast.
Public perception of the work of private eyes is stained by conflicting influences ranging from the hardboiled detective novels of Dashiell Hammett to films such as Chinatown.

Investigator admitted forging documents to save lives of condemned inmates.
SACRAMENTO — A former private investigator who admitted forging documents to try to save the lives of four death row inmates — including one convicted in Orange County — was sentenced Thursday to five years in state prison.
Kathleen Culhane, 40, admitted that she repeatedly made up statements from real witnesses and jurors and forged their signatures to try to stop the executions. The fake statements were turned over to attorneys and filed with the courts and governor’s office as they considered whether to commute the men’s death sentences.
Culhane said she acted out of her moral opposition to the death penalty.
