A wave of claims that children have been sexually assaulted or improperly treated in or around their San Antonio schools in recent weeks has prompted questions about whether school officials are doing enough to protect students and, in one case, possibly sparked a false allegation from a fourth-grader.
The claims, nine in all, have emerged in San Antonio’s three largest independent school districts — Northside, North East and San Antonio — since late December.
They have ranged from allegations that teachers had same-sex encounters with high school students to a claim a man tried to abduct a 6-year-old boy from an elementary school bathroom.
More than half the reports involved strangers not believed to be school employees. All are under investigation.
