Victim’s Family Turns to Private Investigators for Answers
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL -- The family of Donna Chen claims that Sarasota Sheriff's Office deputies and poor laws led to her death. Chen was killed by a drunk driver who earlier in the day had been asked to leave a beach due to obvious intoxication. Chen’s family allege that the Sheriff's Office deputies who spoke to Blake Talman and his two friends saw that the group were drunk but took no steps to ensure that the group could get home safely. Talman is now accused of driving drunk and hitting and killing Donna Chen with his car. Chen’s family want answers – and want alcohol banned at Siesta Key beach. Sarasota sheriff's officials have defended their deputies’ actions. The Chen family are hiring private investigators to look into the case. They have not decided whether to pursue legal action against the sheriff's office.

The proposed legislation would also make it legal to carry a firearm without a PCW (Permit to Carry Weapons) in Iowa. HF 520 would allow Iowa private investigators and employees who are security officers with private firms to carry firearms on Iowa school property while doing their job.

MADISON, WI -- After budgets were slashed in Milwaukee County, investigations into fraud in the food stamp program have not been pursued. However, Milwaukee private investigators have now been looking into the program. In two months of investigative work, they have found almost $500,000 in overpayments in two aid programs in the state. According to Ed O'Brien of investigative agency O'Brien & Associates, total savings and overpayments may total over $1 million by the time the investigation is done. Gov. Scott Walker has restored funding which has allowed private investigators to start looking into fraud again. So far, newspapers are reporting that the private investigators have virtually paid for themselves in savings to the program. O'Brien & Associates is reportedly being paid $25,000 to investigate fraud in the food stamp programs.
